Empowering Communities Through Food: Volunteering with the Greater Vancouver Food Bank

On May 4, 2024, our Captain Scott Volunteer Ambassadors team had the honour of volunteering at the Greater Vancouver Food Bank!

As a team of four, we took on various tasks aimed at assisting those in need. Our responsibilities ranged from organizing groceries and packing produce to handling cardboard and assisting with parking. We were prepared to tackle any challenge that arose, wearing different hats and smoothly transitioning between roles to ensure everything ran efficiently.

What truly made this experience remarkable was not only the work we accomplished, but also the collaborative spirit among our teams as we volunteered together. Seeing the dedication and passion behind the Greater Vancouver Food Bank's mission was incredibly motivating. It strengthened the significance of community and the value of extending a helping hand to those who require it most.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity, providing nutritious food to over 16,000 individuals and families in need each month, along with supporting over 130 Community Agency Partners across Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and the North Shore.

We invite you to join us in making a difference by volunteering in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland. You can sign up for our upcoming volunteer ambassador events and become part of the positive change at www.captainscott.ca/volunteer-ambassadors.

Together, through the power of volunteering, we can continue to impact communities. Let’s spread kindness and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us. We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
